Hairbows and CVS

So I bought Emily a bunch of hairbows over the weekend and am in love with them! This one is by far my favorite for photos though! Mick says it is a little too big for her small head, but I think it is adorable!! (Thank you Andrea for making such cute things for my baby girl!)...

So I have started CVSing about a month and a half ago & I have become completly addicted! I went there 2 times on Sunday and once on Monday! But I am only spending minimal amounts of $$ and getting a ton of stuff! For example I spent .50 cents on 2 tubes of Colgate toothpast and a Gillette Fusion Razon on my last trip and I earned $4.00 in ECB'S (extra-care bucks) to spend on my next trip. My bathroom cabinet is starting to look a little crowded, but how can I turn down such great deals??!! I am having a blast working our my shopping trips and then coming home and having Mick guess how much I spent on "all this stuff". And it isnt junk...I am saving so much $$ on shampoo, dish soap, lotion, baby wipes, laundry detergent, deoderant, shaving needs etc.... it is awesome! Plus I figure with gas prices so high, I needed to start cutting something out of our grocery budget. And I am making my hubby happy so it is a win-win in my household!

Well I am off to plan another CVS trip-they have a great deal this week on baby wipes and dish soap! ;0)

Welcome Back!

So it has been awhile since my last post and lots has changed! We welcomed little Emily into our world on March 1, 2008! She is such a sweetie-but very choosy with her smiles! We moved into a new house after staying with friends for 2 weeks! (Thank you Sandbergs!) And we just bought a van! I am now a minivan mom with 2 kids! Wow!

Baking with a 2 year old

Luke was really wanting to help mommy bake brownies tonight- he likes to help stir and pour the ingredients into the batter- but as I discovered as I was putting the brownies in the oven his favorite part is licking the mixing spoon!

Cloth Diapers

So we have been using cloth diapers for a week and a 1/2 now and love them! These are not the cloth diapers your parents used either! No safety pins here! They have snaps that hold them closed and the plastic covers are replaced by a nylon water proof outer layer that is built into the diaper. Even poopies are easy with these and of course being a boy Luke loves flushing his poops! They are so easy to use and easy to clean. The load of laundry takes only 2 minutes to sort once they have been washed and dried. We ordered 2 more on Friday night so I will be able to go a little longer between washings. They are kinda pricey, but I figure after I use them on Luke and this next baby for about 2 months they will have paid for themselves.

Halloween

Happy Halloween! Luke was a tiger for Halloween and loved every minute of it! He was introduced to candy for the 1st time in his life and obviously loved it! We had a great time this week and went to a bunch of different parties and outings including Aunt Jamie's 21st Birthday Dinner! Happy Birthday Jamie!

Zoo

Luke and I went to the zoo today with his Aunts and cousins. We had a blast and Luke love the tigers and monkey's! He kept singing "No More Monkey's Jumping on the Bed" to them, so that was pretty cute! He also loved to walk around holding hands with his big cousin Alex. When we got home he ran up to the dog and started saying tiger and monkey, so I think he was trying to tell Sarge about his big adventure! Too cute!!!

Something to think about....

So, now that we are progressing right along in our pregnancy I am starting to hear alot more about mid-wives and home births. I have personally never had a bad hospital birthing experience (although Luke was here in about 2 pushes). But the women I have been reading about have had hours of hard labor and pushing and very stressful birthing experiences. As I have been reading about the home birth though it is becoming more and more intriguing to me. The stories I have heard are all of peaceful births and stress free situations, being able to sleep in your own bed, rather than an uncomfortable hospital bed for 2 days afterwards doesn't sound half bad either. Not something I am considering for this one, but possibly something I would consider for the next baby. What are you thoughts on this assuming you have a healthy pregnancy and there are no signs that the baby could be in trouble....

Finger Painting

Luke finger painting in the kitchen this afternoon. What a great activity for a HOT summer afternoon! Luke had a blast and of course was covered from head to toe in paint afterwards! He ended up in the bath for the 2nd time today! But he loved it and made some lovely art work for us to display on the fridge and to send to the Grandparents!

Peanut Emergency!

Well, we now know that Luke has a peanut allergy.

The good news is that it isn't the ultra sensitive kind. He is able to handle the shells and nuts without a problem. Praise God.

But, he broke out extremely bad and vomited and was coughing, the sign of a swelling throat (Anaphylaxis). Thankfully his symptoms lessened before any aid was required. He only ate one tiny peanut!

So, here are some links for our friends and family to a video on how to use the "EpiPen" (Epinephrine Auto-Injectors) if Luke ever shows these signs.

  • Excessive Hives
  • Vomiting
  • and Coughing or Choking
- Low Speed How-To Video

Let's pray we never need to use it! Mick

Big Brother (soon to be!)

Well, you may have noticed the lack of posts since the announcement of Luke's new role as a future big brother, so Jessica has asked me to post an update.

Shortly after the announcement, at the next couple of sonograms we knew there was a problem. We never got a heartbeat. So, our children (as in possibly twins) never made it and instead are filling heaven with the joy that only children can bring!

Now. . . I was suprised to find out monday night when I came home from work that we are once again expecting! Praise God! We would love your prayers for a healthy Mom and healthy baby(ies)!

Thank you. Mick

My baby is 1!!

Wow, I can't believe how fast this first year has gone by! My little baby is becoming a little boy. I am so sad to see him grow, yet happy at the same time. He is gaining confidence everyday and his personality is starting to shine thru more and more. It is hard to remember how small he was last Christmas at only 12 days old, this year he will be all over everything and taking everything in and be so busy exploring I am wondering if I will have any time with him to sit and cuddle. I sure hope so. Am I selfish becuase I hate to share him with others? When we walk into a room I like for him to be clingy for a little while....but usually the exact oppisite is true. He will take off in any direction of something that catches his little eyes. Then after a few seconds of looking into whatever it was that grabbed his attention initially, he sees something more interesting and is ready to go check it out. Wow, he is so busy!
Luke had a great birthday yesterday and it was so fun to see him eat cake and opn his presents! He was soooo excited this morning to get back to the livingroom and play with all of his new toys! We are having a huge family party for him this weekend! I am so excited to see his reactions. He will have sooo much fun! Wow, I thought birthdays were cool before I had children, now it is so much more exciting! The look on his face yesterday morning when DH and I went into his room singing Happy Birthday was priceless! Can't wait to see what he does this Christmas!!

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! The picture is of Mick and Luke at our church for our lifegroup Thanksgiving event last week. We had a great turn-out and a wonderful meal! What an awesome time of fellowship!
I can't believe in a few short weeks (2 to be exact) Luke will 1 year old! I am happy as he is growing so big and strong, yet I am sad, since he will no longer be a baby;(
I am excited for his birthday party, I think he will have a good time, especially since he walks all over now and can keep up with his big cousins. Wow, this year has flown by, I can only imagine what things will be like when Luke gets more into activites and schedules, I am sure things will continue to speed up. Well Happy Thanksgiving and what are you thankful for? My answer: My wonderful husband and our incrediable son!

Mister Luke

This is Mister Luke in his first Fall outfit. I just love him in this- he went to StoryTime today at Border's BookStore. Luke loves hearing stories and shaking his egg for "The Shaky Egg" song!
This weekend was a little rough as Luke has decided to start using his mouth as a 3rd hand. He likes to grab the couch with his mouth and use that to help pull himself up to it, well he also likes to grab mommies tummy or shoulder with his mouth to pull up, needless to say we went thru a few spouts of pouting after being told "No!" But I think we may have turned a corner, at least for a few days....we shall see! Posted by Picasa

Bath Time!

Here is Luke getting ready for his bath this morning.

We went to MOPS today at Bethany Baptist and Luke did great in the Moppetts program! I put him down and signed him in and away he crawled to do some exploring!

Mops was very refreshing & funny I should use those terms as this semesters focus is called "What a Mom Needs: Fresh Air". I am so looking forward to this year at MOPS and know I will get a lot from it. I think it will be good for Luke to be dropped off for a few hours every other week and socialize with children his age. Posted by Picasa
